AS PART of effots to enforce Chapter 30, Section 12 of the Minor Offences Act, the Belait District Office through its Enforcement Division has imposed a $200 compound fine on a local company located at Jalan Pretty, Kuala Belait for improper garbage disposal at the back of their premise.
The company had acquired the compound fine for leaving waste items in the form of leftover building material, such as rocks, timber and other building supplies.
The company was given a seven-day period to settle the fines and if they fail to do so, they may be charged in court.
The Belait District Office reminds the public to not turn their private space or business premises into places for garbage disposal. Failure to do so will see a fine not exceeding $1,000 for the first offence, while a $3,000 fine and jail term not exceeding three months will be levied for subsequent offences.
