Local bodybuilder bags gold in Malaysia meet

Local bodybuilder Mohamad Yazid bin Mohamad Taib put the country in the sporting map after bagging two gold medals and one silver medal at the Fitness International Federation (FIF) Yong Peng League Malaysia at Jalan Kota Impian, Johor last weekend.

The 30-year-old bagged gold in the Men’s Fitness 170 centimetres (cm) and below and Men’s Sports Model 170cm and below categories as well as silver in the Men’s Physique Novice Open category.Mohamad Yazid in an interview said, “I am grateful to win. Before leaving overseas, I attended fitness training for 16 weeks and followed by a two-week intensive training at Lockdown Gym under the supervision of my coach.”

The meet marked Mohamad Yazid’s first time in joining a bodybuilding and fitness sport competition and he plans to join more in the future.

“I hope to improve my shortcomings. Appropriate nutrition and fitness training are key preparation for future tournaments,” added the Lockdown Gym fitness coach.

Putting teammates who have won similar tournaments as inspiration, Mohamad Yazid also expressed his gratitude for their support.

Mohamad Yazid also hailed the influence of Mohamad Amzar, besides friends and fitness coaches as well as members from Lockdown Gym for facilitating his trip. He also thanked Victory Athletes and Next Fit Active for sponsoring his attire.

He also thanked his family who prayed for his success.

Last year, Mohamad Yazid won a boxing event organised by Jab Gym, and have also won several boxing and taekwondo events in the country and overseas. Over 30 locals and foreigners participated in the competition.
