The Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Belait District Office issued two BND100 compound fines to two locals for littering in a public area.

The two had disposed plastic bags containing waste into a drainage resulting in clogging and limiting of water flow.

The two were given seven days to settle the fines, and failure to do so will result the two in being brought to court.

If found guilty, the accused will be handed a further BND1,000 fine or one month’s imprisonment while subsequent offences will see a penalty of BND3,000 or imprisonment of no more than three months.

The Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Belait District Office urged public and companies to ensure that trash is disposed at designated dumping grounds.
