Life saving briefing leaves residents more knowledgeable

Thirty residents from RPN Lambak Kanan Area 2 joined the Live Saver 995 briefing conducted by the Public Relations Unit HQ and Law Enforcement and Investigation Unit of the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).

The briefing was held at Simpang 262 Area 2 of RPN Lambak Kanan. The briefing provided exposure and knowledge on a before and after fire incident and stressed the importance of preventing a fire and highlighted fire extinguishing methods.

FRD provides fire safety programmes such as the Life Saver 995 and Fire Marshal Course teaching the public on safety aspects, handling emergency situations and using fire extinguishers. The public can contact 995 during

an emergency. Meanwhile, 27 members of the Temburong Mukim and Village Consultative Councils joined the Jungle Rescue Course conducted by the FRD of Operation ‘G’ Branch in collaboration with the Temburong District Office. The course was held at Belalong Main Hall, Temburong from December 14 to 15. Course Coordinator and Acting Deputy Commander of Operation ‘G’ Branch, SO Jamaluddin bin Ahmad facilitated the course, assisted by trainers from the Special Squad and Fire Medic Unit.

The objective of the course was to provide exposure in finding missing victims and rescue those who had fallen into a ravine.

The course also taught treating an injured victim, and using a rope and rescue equipment during an operation.

Participants also experienced a practical training in finding and rescuing a victim who fell from a 60 metre ravine at Bukit Taman Perayaan Temburong.

The ceremony concluded with a certificate presentation with the Acting Assistant Director of Operation Muhd Shahreeni bin Haji Muhd Yussof as guest of honour. Acting Senior Superintendendent of Fire and Rescue Haji Mustafa bin Haji Mohammad was also present.
