    Lending a helping hand

UOB Asset Management Brunei (UOBAM Brunei) collaborated with Foodlife to donate food packages to underprivileged families recently.

Families in Kampong Subok and neighbouring areas received packages comprising cooking oil, fragrant rice, canned foods and eggs on September 30.

The families were identified through referrals from village heads, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and hospitals.

UOBAM Brunei General Manager Kamal bin Haji Muhammad said, “We are pleased to work with local social enterprises such as Foodlife to contribute to the local community. This food donation drive affirms our commitment to fight hunger and ensure food security for our vulnerable communities.”

The activity was aimed at supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) of zero hunger as well as responsible consumption and production. It is part of a wider regional initiative which all UOBAM offices participate in.

Foodlife is a local initiative that was started in March 2020 to support the country’s efforts in helping underprivileged communities in Brunei. It aims to complement the existing programmes by the government, NGOs and the public to help the underprivileged and needy members of society through the provision of food packs and basic necessities.
