LegCo Speaker receives courtesy call

Legislative Council (LegCo) Speaker Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib received a courtesy call from High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Heng Aik Yeow at the Councils of State Building yesterday.

Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Clerk to the Councils Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Judin bin Haji Asar was also present.

The courtesy call was the first official meeting held between the two sides. Both sides expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the close ties between the two countries for a long time.

The High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam stated that with the monarch’s leadership and leaders in both countries as well as the cooperation that has been held, the current generation can enjoy benefits in various fields such as education, health and exchange of visits.

Both sides further on touched on regional issues of common concerns and interests, and hoped that the issues that were of concern to the regional community would be resolved as soon as possible for the well-being and security of the community.

Both sides also touched on the recently concluded LegCo session in approving the government budget, touching on the active participation of LegCo members in discussing national issues and youth development in the country.
