Learning through out-of-classroom experiences

ST JAMES’ School kindergarten pupils in September participated in trips to Kuala Belait Public Library, Billionth Barrel Monument, Bowling Centre, and SupaSave to offer firsthand learning opportunities and to provide them with additional experiences from the usual day-to-day classroom activities.

During the trip, the pupils were thrilled by the excitement and anticipation of being the ‘doers’ rather than just ‘watchers’.

In SupaSave, the children became more aware of the different sections of the supermarket as they learned various food found in each section. In the bakery section, they were given a chance to learn and explore the process of making bread with the help of a professional baker.

Aside from the trips, several programmes and activities were also organised like the School Open Day, Pyjama Day, Pool Party, Friendship and Children’s Day.

These programmes for kindergarten pupils are designed in line with the school vision to be progressive and be the school of choice among parents and students in the Belait community.
