A group of 20 Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic School students learnt about Oman’s history and culture during a visit to the Embassy of Oman in Brunei Darussalam yesterday.
Ambassador of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari presented the aspects of the country’s cultural and tourism appeal including its geographic location, diverse landscapes, and its culture and heritage.
He also shared some of the similarities between Oman and Brunei – the form of governance and the countries’ efforts towards modernisation while maintaining distinct cultural identities.
The ambassador concluded his presentation by addressing the rapid development of bilateral relations between the two Sultanates.
The visit was part of the embassy’s efforts to foster ties with Bruneians.
This is within the framework of public diplomacy, considered an effective tool to help formulate people’s perception of each other’s countries and cultures.
