Laksamana College of Business (LCB) head coach Haji Omar bin Haji Jamil hailed the spirited performance of his charges following their historic triumph in the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Football Championship 2021 among higher learning institutions on Tuesday night.

The Batu Satu-outfit produced a tactical masterclass during their 2-0 win against tournament hosts UBD in the final with goals from Muhd Kasyfi Shafi’e bin Abdul Ade Rozli and Muhammad Nazhan bin Zulkiflie in both halves.

Haji Omar said, “I’m very happy and satisfied with LCB’s performance. Not only did they follow instructions, but they also implemented the strategy that we both planned.

“The players looked very spirited from the first to the last minute. Honestly, this victory is valuable to me on a personal level.”

The head coach added that their 4-4-1-1 strategy worked according to plan, adding that his back four was able to nullify UBD’s threat.

“I feel that both teams were quite cautious during the game but the instructions given to the players brought rewards to the LCB team,” Haji Omar said.

His team played without a main striker in the final match and deployed all his midfield players up front instead.

The local tactician also acknowledged UBD’s challenge for providing them a tough test, adding that “we were made to practice at a higher level, more prepared mentally and physically, and continuously improving our performance.

“UBD put up a strong fight against us”.

He also heaped praise on team captain Mohammad Hirzi Zulfaqar bin Mahzan for winning the Best Player award and goalkeeper Mohd Syazwan bin Mohd Rahim for winning the Best Goalkeeper award.
