Laksamana College Business (LCB) head coach Haji Omar bin Haji Jamil highlighted the need to make tidy preparations ahead of the much-anticipated final against Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in the UBD Football Championship among higher learning institutions at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex tonight.

The Batu Satu outfit will meet the tournament hosts in the title decider after overcoming the Religious Teachers’ University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) during the last-four phase.

Haji Omar said, “We must be careful and make tidy preparations physically, mentally and tactically. All teams want to win and make history. We (LCB) will try our best.”

Since leading the team to the final, the head coach has shared plans to improve the performances of the players in attack and defence as well as fine-tuning their training preparations.

He continued, “Reaching the final is a bonus and an encouraging reward for the LCB players. To achieve victory is no easy feat and I must respect all opponents.”

Haji Omar has shared technical and tactical information based on his coaching experience before adding that the players were the ones who made the decision and performed to their best.

“This is why I encourage the players to think and understand every move and strategy which myself and the team have set out for them.”

Meanwhile, team captain Mohammad Hirzi Zulfaqar bin Mahzan said that they are physically and mentally ready for the final.

He said, “Every single one of us has given 101 per cent in every game and we’re so proud of the results. Although we have lost 1-0 to UBD (in the group stage), it is not the end.

“We have worked hard for the past few days to prepare for the final match. We are physically and mentally ready to bring the trophy home.”

Mohammad Hirzi also thanked the head coach for his guidance during the tournament.

UBD booked their spot in the final after a 3-1 win over Politeknik Brunei (PB).
