Labour Enforcement Division (LED) officers at the Labour Department upheld the Employment Order 2009 by conducting Operasi Selongkar 62/2021 at Kampong Lambak and Berakas, resulting in the detection of two companies having hired five workers under different sponsorships.

It contravened the Employment Order 2009 which carries penalties of BND600 fine for a first offence and BND900 for a second.

The LED warned that action will be taken against offenders, and reminded companies to be responsible in maintaining their workforce by providing contracts, timely salary payments and fitting shelters, and in ensuring the employees’ welfare. Employers are reminded not to abuse the Foreign Workers’ Licence.
