LAURENT emerged the overall nett winner in the 18th Rotary Charity Golf Tournament after firing a four-under OCB (On Count Back) at the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club yesterday.
The newly crowned winner, who succeeded George Kho as this year’s winner, made an excellent start when he birdied two of the first three holes in the front nine.
His strong start took a dip when he bogeyed the fourth par-five hole but he found his rhythm when he dropped a birdie on the fifth hole.
Laurent managed three birdies in the first nine and also had a minor blip in the final hole with another bogey to his score-card.
Aiming for an improved game in the back nine, the golfer suffered a tough spell in the 10th and 11th hole with consecutive bogeys and a par on the 12th ended that sequence of mishaps.
He regained his putting accuracy back when he fashioned four birdies in the next six holes to seal the victory with a four-under par.
Meanwhile in the men’s gross category, Seruji Haji Setia added his ever growing trophy collection in his cabinet after managing a final round of two-under par 70.
Other winners included Thomas Foo with a score of three-under OCB and Lee Il Gyu with a score of four-under.
President of the Bandar Seri Begawan Rotary Club Klaus Tomalla said, “We donated the money to students who are in need to give them a good opportunity, a good platform for a well-educated life.”
The competition was contested in a System 36 Perior Modified 12 blind holes format.
