THE last batch of Brunei Darussalam Haj pilgrims departed the country for Madinah on board Royal Brunei Airlines Flight BI4205 at 5.30pm yesterday.
Family members, relatives and friends filled Brunei International Airport by 2pm to bid farewell to the pilgrims.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and his spouse Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Hasbi were in attendance at the send off ceremony.
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB); Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar and his spouse; Acting Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin; Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar and his spouse; Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam Emad bin Abdul Aziz bin Saad Al-Muhanna; and senior government officials were also present to send the pilgrims off.
The last batch consists of 254 pilgrims including three Haj Medical Affairs officers and officers from Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd (DHSB).
A total of 251 pilgrims – 122 males and 129 females – left for Madinah under packages from DHSB. A Doa Selamat was read by Haji Haris bin Haji Suboh while the Azan was called by Mudim Haji Abdul Latif bin Haji Saman to bless their journey.
Flight BI4205 is scheduled to arrive in Madinah at around 3.10am Brunei time today.
