Lao PDR Prime Minister tours Golden Corporation

LAO People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) Prime Minister Dr Thongloun Sisoulith visited Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd in Kampong Serembangun in Tutong yesterday.

The Lao PDR Prime Minister is in Brunei Darussalam on a two-day official visit which, among others, aims to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Also present were Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong; Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) Haji Abdul Halidi bin Haji Mohd Salleh; as well as the Acting Director of Fisheries and senior officials of the ministry and Fisheries Department.

The visit began with remarks from Golden Corporation Managing Director Richard Chuang, before proceeding with a tour of the Golden Corporation’s integrated seafood processing plant. The Prime Minister also signed a plaque to commemorate the visit.

The processing plant is equipped with modern technology capable of producing quality frozen products. The plant has successfully marketed products to international markets such as Australia, Japan, China, Taiwan and the European Union (EU).

A press release noted that the Golden Corporation has been awarded local and international standards certificate such as ISO22000:2005, HACCP, Organic certification, British Retail Consortium Certification, IFS (German certification) and Halal certification.
