Landlords should have discussion with tenants

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah urged landlords to come to a deal with their tenants yesterday.

The minister was responding to media raising concerns on business rentals when income is limited during the daily press conference.

He said the government cannot impose rules on landlords and that they may have their own reasons for not offering deferments such as having commitments attached to the property.

However, he urged landlords to discuss with their tenants and come to an amicable conclusion where both parties benefit.

The minister also cautioned that frustrated tenants may be forced to look elsewhere and it will eventually affect the landlords.
