There is a severe lack of awareness of the hazards on the road and the consequences as a result of such ignorance. On a daily basis, there are countless drivers neglecting simple road safety rules that could prevent the worst of consequences such as death.
Very often, I see young children in the front passenger seat not wearing a seatbelt. What’s more alarming is seeing two small children sharing the seat, which if rare, would not be so worrying. Sadly it is so common that it makes me wonder if quite a large number of people are unaware of the importance of road safety.
It is not the fault of children; it is a parental responsibility to make sure the children are well-protected in the event of an accident.
I believe that the lack of safety awareness among these drivers can be attributed to the absence of a road safety behavioural course at driving schools. I would like the authorities to consider more education on safety to ensure less hazardous driving on the road.
