Labour Department uncovers violation

The Labour Department’s Law Enforcement Division conducted an operation to ensure compliance with the Employment Order, 2009.

During an inspection in RPN Kampong Pandan, Belait District, authorities discovered an employer breaching the conditions of their foreign worker recruitment license by assigning a general labourer (hired for grass-cutting) to perform unrelated work, specifically coconut husking.

The Labour Department issued a reminder to all employers to prioritise employee welfare and adhere to the Employment Order, 2009, which includes providing employment contracts and timely wage payments. Employers are also urged to avoid misusing foreign worker licenses.
