KUPU SB hosts dialogue on Islamic jurisprudence

THE Faculty of Syariah at the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) yesterday hosted an academic dialogue on the principles of Islamic jurisprudence and the five foundational goals of Syariah.

Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports was the guest of honour.

The event commenced with the recitation of selected verses from Al-Quran and its interpretation, which was followed with welcoming remarks by Datin Dr Hajah Noor Hira binti Haji Noor Kaseh, Dean of the Faculty of Syariah at KUPU SB.

The academic dialogue revolved around the nature and purpose of Syariah, which is often associated with Islamic law and jurisprudence, but can be applied to more secular fields such as education, economics and culture.

Facilitated by Haji Abdul Rauf bin Muhammad Amin and Ustaz Azman bin Haji Kassim from the Faculty of Syariah at KUPU SB, the dialogue was aimed at providing a further understanding on the benefits of Islamic law, by exploring the values and objectives of Syariah.

Among those present were Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Acting Ra’es of KUPU SB, and guests.
