Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) lecturers and undergraduates attended the Bedah Kitab programme titled Ta’ilim al-Muta’allim conducted by the KUPU SB’s Jawi and Kitab Turath Research and Study Centre recently.

The book written by Syeikh Burhanuddin Ibrahim al-Zarnuji al-Hanafi is divided into three segments, with the first explained by Deputy Director at the Jawi and Kitab Turath Research and Study Centre Haji Mohd Shahrol Azmi bin Haji Abdul Muluk.

Segment two was explained by Deputy Director of the Language Centre at KUPU SB Pengiran Nurul Majeedah binti Pengiran Haji Hamdan, and the final segment was delivered by Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Usuluddin at KUPU SB Dr Haji Matussien bin Haji Jumat.

Haji Mohd Shahrol Azmi told attendees that al-Zarnuji discussed the issues and essence of knowledge, adding that knowledge on faith, prayers and Zakat are among those that must be studied.

Pengiran Nurul Majeedah explained that in seeking knowledge, several things need to be taken into account, including the aspect of choosing a teacher. The teachers should be knowledgeable, pious and older, and the student should be able to consult the teacher.

Dr Haji Matussien said the reason behind the book’s production was the existing predicament, whereby students fail to acquire knowledge despite their diligence. This failure happens when students do not implement the practice of knowledge, and apply wrong learning method.
