KUPU SB duo Indonesia bound for karate championship

TWO students of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) left the country yesterday to participate in the Sebelas Maret Cup: Southeast Asian University Karate Championship 2019 in Indonesia.

Muhammad Khairi ‘Asri bin Haji Sahri and Muhammad Faris Mu’izzuddin bin Abdullah, who are undertaking Religious Teaching degree programme, won gold and bronze medals at the Brunei Darussalam National Games last year.

Manager and trainer of KUPU SB’s karate club Dr Muhammad Hilmy Baihaqy bin Haji Yussof said this will be the first time that Brunei’s college university will participate in a Southeast Asian level contest.

He added that the students have undergone continuous training sessions with national experts including Sensei Haji Okhida Simangasing, Sensei Sofuan Abdullah and Sensei Bayu.

Present at the Brunei International Airport was Acting Deputy Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Abang Haji Hadzmin bin Abang Haji Taha.
