I would like to applaud the government for securing the COVID-19 vaccine for half of the population.
As a Bruneian, I am proud of the country’s swift and decisive in the early days of the outbreak to stem its tide. The fact that so many countries have resorted to extreme measures to contain the spread, while Brunei has been able to keep local transmissions under a tight lid without subjecting the population to a lockdown deserves more recognition.
The pandemic has done a number on the world. Mental health issues have been appearing everywhere as a result of uncertainty about the future. The fact that half of us will be vaccinated against the virus sometime next year is the best news I’ve heard since the onset of the outbreak.
So kudos to the government for putting the people’s safety and well-being first!
