I would like to applaud the authorities for fighting the practice of false advertising of prices at retail stores nationwide, as reported in the news article, ‘Stores face the music over unethical practices’, in the Bulletin yesterday.
I can sympathise with businesses for wanting to make up for all the losses of the past two months, as a result of the pandemic. However, hiding product prices seems like a very unethical way of doing so, especially when inflation is a global problem that everyone has to accept and live through.
Trying to gain competitive advantage by hiding the real price tags is definitely not the right way of going about it.
I hope the authorities have sent out loud enough a message to deter other businesses from such an unethical practice.
