THE STAR – A 30-year-old man was stopped from jumping from the 10th floor of a building in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.
Family members of the man managed to talk him out of it, said a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.
“A report was received earlier at 4.13pm about the attempt at Sutera Avenue, Kota Kinabalu.
“The man has been handed over to the police for further actions and after inspections conducted on the location to ensure there were no safety risks,” he said, adding that the operation ended at 4.32pm.
In a separate matter, an elderly woman was killed in an accident in Sook.
Agnes Kihing, 72, died after the four-wheel-drive vehicle she was in skidded towards the ditch during the incident at 3.25pm yesterday at Jalan Kampung Delayan.
The 35-year-old driver who lost control of the car and an eight-year-old boy – another passenger – sustained minor injuries.
