The Belia Setia Sepak Takraw Club (BESETA), with support from Pelangi Club, will organise a sepak takraw tournament in conjunction of Brunei Darussalam’s 37th National Day next month.
Deputy Chairman of Competition Raimi bin Rashid said recently that the tournament, expected to take place at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex, will be held on February 21, 26 and 28.
Entries will be limited to 64 teams with current and former national players allowed to join the tournament. However, each team is allowed only one national player from 2016 to 2021.
BESETA welcomed the public to take part and instil the spirit in the game while highlighting young talents in the sport.
According to Raimi, the competition will be played until 21 points, in accordance with standard rules set by the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF).
In an event where the game is decided by a tie break, the set will be played until 15 to 17 points.
Each team must field five players and the entry form must be submitted no later than February 19. Players who are not on the list are not allowed to play and cannot be replaced with other players.
He stressed that all teams and players must be at the venue 15 minutes before the match.
The organiser reserves the right to add regulations that are deemed necessary and emphasised to each team to collectively maintain the cleanliness and safety of the facilities.
Organisers also expressed hopes for an encouraging response with every participant complying with the regulations to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.
