Grand Motors Sdn Bhd, the main distributor of Kia vehicles in Brunei Darussalam, reassures the public that all Kia vehicles on Brunei roads are safe.

Reassurance was given following a Monday published news article regarding Kia recalling nearly 295,000 vehicles in the United States (US) over possible engine issues (stalling or catching fire).

The recall in the United States (US) covers certain Sorento SUVs (2012-2013 models), Forte and Forte Koup vehicles (2012-2015 models), Optima hybrid cars (2011-2013 models), Soul SUVs (2014-2015 models) and Sportage SUVs (2012 model).

Grand Motors Sdn Bhd Managing Director Frankie Ho said, “The article appeared in the Monday edition of the local newspaper, and when I read it, I was concerned. We have sold thousands of Kia vehicles in Brunei Darussalam. I immediately contacted Kia’s regional office in Kuala Lumpur to seek clarification.”

“On Wednesday, we received a response stating that Brunei Darussalam is unaffected by the recall. The recall only applies to the US,” he said.
