Khatam ceremony enhances Al-Quran recitation

The Khatam Al-Quran programme is an initiative that is significant for the elderly community as it promotes Al-Quran recitation as a habit to gain Allah the Almighty’s blessings, said Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud.

The programme also strengthens bonds and allows the sharing of experiences in reading Al-Quran, which can be beneficial and needs to be carried out throughout one’s lifetime, the minister said as the guest of honour during the 75 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for Wargamas Association and Nationwide Warga Emas Halaqah at the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) yesterday.

The event began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Mustafa bin Haji Murad, followed by a Selawat Tafrijiyyah by the Wargamas Association Warganita’s Bureau and a welcoming speech by President of Wargamas Association and event chairman Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Mohd Don.

He said this year’s event was in its third installment, and participated by 1,103 individuals as a special pesambah in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s birthday celebration.

The event continued with the recitation of verses from Al-Quran from Surah Adh-Dhuha to Surah An-Nas, Takhtim and Doa Khatam.

The minister also launched the 76 times Khatam Al-Quran 2022 programme.

Doa Selamat and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam marked the conclusion of the ceremony.
