Khatam Al-Quran marks National Day

The Brunei Darussalam Student Association in Australia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom (UK) in collaboration with the Scholarship Section, Ministry of Education (MoE), organised a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with the 37th National Day celebration at Masjid Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque recently.

Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour.

The inaugural event was one of the initiatives of overseas students who are currently still in the country to reap blessings by reciting Al-Quran, while enlivening the national event.

One-hundred and twenty-seven students comprising 96 students studying in Malaysia, 16 students studying in Australia, 13 students studying in the UK and three alumni participated.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by the recitation of verses of Al-Quran and Takhtim led by Haji Mohd Adi Saufi bin Haji Aminuddin and Awangku Muhd Ihsan bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Zaman.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of certificates by the guest of honour, enlivened by a Dikir Marhaban.

The ceremony ended with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Senior Special Duties Officer/Head of Scholarship Section Julaihi bin Mohamad/Mohamat, and officers from the Scholarship Section, MoE were also present.
