Brunei Darussalam archer Khairul Ariffin bin Haji Baha did the country proud after securing second place in the 70m recurve category of the virtual worldwide 60x Remote Shoot Stage 50 Outdoor League recently.

The local archer accumulated 562 points after 72 arrows and finished behind winner Singapore’s Sim Sheng Xiang who tallied 582 points. France’s Focke Dirk settled in third place with 541 points.

Khairul Ariffin had produced consistent performances after finishing in top spot with a total of 604 points on March 14 and second place with 595 points on March 7.

He also finished fourth in the 18m recurve indoor category for two consecutive weeks and will be joining the 70m recurve outdoor next month.

The ongoing competition first started on April 5 last year and the 51st edition of the tournament is expected to start this Sunday.

The tournament featured various categories such as compound 30m, compound scaled target, recurve 25m, compound 50m, barebow field and compound field.

As the tournament is being conducted virtually, equipment inspection is made by taking a photo of bow, arrows and the target face and submitting it online. A QR code is then sent for archers to log in and send their scores after every end accompanied with pictures of shooting marks. Archers can join the tournament remotely at home or in the club and tournaments can be found in different parts of the world every week.

The 60x Remote Shoot Stage competition was organised by 60x Belgium and Ice Smart Sports based in Belgium.
