Fifteen firefighters from the Bukit Beruang Fire Station, with assistance from the Sungai Liang Fire Station, extinguished a house fire at Kampong Telisai on Wednesday.
Led by ASO Haji Abdul Aziz, the firefighters were dispatched after receiving an emergency call at 7.10am.
On arrival, they saw the upper floor of the two-storey house engulfed in flames. The fire also affected a nearby vehicle.
The firefighters worked to extinguish the fire with the use of a nearby fire hydrant, and had the situation under control in eight minutes.
The cause and damages of the fire are under investigation. No casualties were reported.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) reminded the public to ensure that homes are equipped with fire extinguishers, fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.
Any installation of wiring and electrical equipment should be conducted by qualified technicians, and unused electrical appliances must be switched off before leaving the house.
