ALOR SETAR (Bernama) – Formerly a location for visitors to see replicas of Kedah traditional houses, the area has been upgraded to become Keriang Hill Resort, the only kampung resort in the city of Alor Setar.
Keriang Hill Resort Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Datuk Wan Ahmad Muazzam Wan Ismail said since taken by the Department of Tourism a few years ago, the resort 10 km from Alor Setar, has been completely renovated and began operation in February.
“The development of this resort is the vision and mission of Keriang Hill Resort Executive Chairman, the Tunku Temenggong of Kedah, Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah ,” he said after the opening of Keriang Hill Resort by the Sultanah of Kedah, Tuanku Hajah Haminah, Tuesday night.
Tuanku Hajah Haminah sounded the gong three times in the opening ceremony.
Also present were the Raja Muda of Kedah, Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, the Raja Puan Muda of Kedah, Puan Sri Tengku Maliha Tengku Arif and Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz.
Wan Ahmad Muazzam said Keriang Hill Resort has unique architectural structures inspired by the traditional kampong houses from the whole of Kedah.
There were 17 replicas of which 15 were upgraded into cottages and the rest upgraded into other facilities.
With the theme ‘Back To Kampung Life’, Keriang Hill Resort is located right at the foot of Gunung Keriang, where visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of the limestone mountain in addition to the padi field nearby.
Keriang Hill Resort is equipped with facilities including a ??480 square metre hall which can accommodate 250 people at any one time, swimming pool, gymnasium, restaurant, surau and gift shop.
