    Katana brandishing man pleads not guilty

    A local man facing a charge of committing affray in public pleaded not guilty to the offence, linked to a viral video that showed a man brandishing a katana at another person, while drawing a crowd.

    Hamzah bin Pehin Orang Kaya Kesuma Dato Paduka Haji Ali, 53, pleaded not guilty to the offence that took place at 3am on March 21, in Jalan Kampong Setia ‘A’. If found guilty, he could face a penalty of three years’ jail with whipping and a fine. Acting Senior Magistrate Kamaliah Fadhilah binti Haji Ibrahim adjourned the case until June 19.

    Defence counsel Pengiran Khairul Nizam bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yassin represented the defendant.
