Karatekas attend joint training session

The Brunei Darussalam Karate Federation (BRUKAF) conducted a joint training for all karatekas representing the five different affiliated styles under the federation at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex recently.

The five different affiliated styles were Shitokai Karate Association, Wadokai Brunei Darussalam, JKMO Shotokan Brunei Darussalam, IKGA Gojukai Brunei Darussalam and Rengokai Brunei Darussalam.

The training was conducted by all of the clubs’ chief instructors and instructors from each style who demonstrated their clubs’ unique techniques.

Several chief instructors and instructors are medallists from previous regional meets such as the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the SUKMA Games.

These affiliated clubs have been working together and supporting the Brunei Darussalam Karate Federation as well as working alongside the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) and the Department of Youth and Sports in promoting karate in the country.

With the support of the affiliated clubs, BRUKAF can select skilled karatekas to be trained under two experienced Brunei national karate coaches Sensei Haji Okida Simangasing for kumite and Sensei Anggoro Bayu Pratama for the kata event.
