    JPI victorious in futsal tournament for Belait teachers

    Both JPI A and JPI C emerged as winners in the 17th edition of the futsal tournament and cup held for teachers in the Belait District, at the Mumong Sports Complex yesterday.

    Organised by the Belait District’s Co-Curriculum Education Department (JPKK) this year’s tournament saw eight teams competing in two separate groups.

    JPI C, PagiPetang Futsal, PTEB, and SMSA competed in Group A, while JPI A, Meniyabitto Warrior, Sume FT, and JPKK Suka-Suka in Group B.

    Following the round-robin, two top teams from each group then competed in the semi-final. PagiPetang Futsal lost to JPKK Suka-Suka, in a penalty shootout 1-3.

    In group B, JPI A competed against JPI C in their semi-final match as the former managed to net two goals, ending the match with a 2-0 win.

    JPI C finished third in the tournament after defeating PagiPetang Futsal 1-0, while the final saw JPI A winning against JPKK Suka Suka in a penalty shootout. The same eight-team then competed in the single elimination 17th edition futsal cup held in the afternoon, where JPKK Suka Suka emerged victorious after defeating JPI C 2-0 in the final.

    Former assistant head of JPKK in Belait District Haji Md Ishak bin Haji Zainal presented the prizes.

    Md Shaifuddin bin Naim from JPI C was named Best Player, while Md Sophian bin Johari from JPKK Suka-Suka scooped the Best Goalkeeper award.
