A number of violations were discovered during a joint enforcement operation by several enforcement agencies in the residential area of Kampong Peninjau, Mukim Sengkurong yesterday.

A workshop in a private house was found to store scrap metal, and vehicles were parked on the side of the road used by residents without permission.

During the inspection, the Planning Authority found that the entrepreneurs and land owners had violated Section 23 (2) of the Town and Country Planning Order, 2015 (TCPO), which was carrying-out workshop activities and metal storage without permission.

The entrepreneur was reprimanded and told to coordinate the activities and comply with the TCPO, 2015. Failing to comply, the entrepreneur can be issued an Enforcement Notice under Section 36(1).

If he fails to comply with the notice, he will be liable to be fined as in Section 23(6) not exceeding BND200,000, subject to additional fines not exceeding BND10,000 for each day if the offence continues after conviction.

The integrated enforcement operation was joined by several agencies including the Fire and Rescue Department, the Labour Department, the Department of Roads, the Department of Drainage and Sewerage, the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe).

Reprimands for offences related to the Act were issued to the operators and land-
