JIS raises funds to help special needs children

Jerudong International School (JIS) supports a number of local charities. Last year, JIS Junior School raised over BND9,000 at its annual Fundraising Week. The money raised was used for special needs children in Brunei Darussalam, in consultation with the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Special Education Unit.

JIS Junior School presented children with specialist equipment to help enhance their learning and mobility.

“Our annual Fundraising Week provides a great opportunity for our children to actively give something back to the wider Brunei community,” said Head of JIS Junior School Paul Bannister.Fundraising activities included, ‘Guess the Number of Stationery Pieces in a Jar’, ‘Wet Sponge a Teacher’, ‘Bake Sale’, ‘Coin Drop’, ‘Launch a Teddy’ and ‘Peculiar and Crazy Dress Up Day’.

Senior Education Officer and Head of Supervision and Monitoring Unit Hajah Rosmah binti Haji Kadir; Education Officer, Supervision and Monitoring Unit of the MoE Dayangku Nor’ashikin binti Pengiran Haji Kamaruddin; and Career Guidance Assistant Officer, Supervision and Monitoring Unit of the MoE Siti Parahsita binti Haji Md Yussof also attended the event.
