JERUDONG International School (JIS) hosted its annual Year 12 Higher Education Evening at the JIS Arts Centre.
The event began with an address by Principal of JIS Barnaby Sandow and an overview of the school system by the Dean of Higher Education Russell Mann to guide JIS students in making university applications.
Students and parents attended the seminar sessions on a range of popular tertiary destinations worldwide, including Australia, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as visiting information booths set up by foreign missions and Bruneian tertiary institutions represented by Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Laksamana College of Business, Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology, Kolej International Graduate Studies and Kemuda Institute.
The Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Nicola Rosenblum introduced the seminar on studying at universities in Australia, while the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Brunei Darussalam Peter Wolff promoted tertiary studies in Germany.
Also in attendance was the Deputy British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Natalie Gowers-Barnes, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Brunei Darussalam Thomas Heilmaier and Director of DAAD Kuala Lumpur (the regional German Academic Exchange Service Office) Brian Trenaman, Chargé d’Affaires at the High Commission of Canada in Brunei Darussalam Lee-Anne Herman, Honorary Swiss Consul to Brunei Darussalam Pengiran Izan Ryan bin Pengiran Laila Kanun Diraja Pengiran Haji Bahrin and Public Affairs Officer at the Embassy of the United States of America in Brunei Darussalam Daniel Lee.
The annual Year 12 Higher Education Evening is a key part in every JIS student’s journey to researching and selecting the appropriate university for their future careers, and attaining places at a university with the right fit for them.
