The Brunei Jet Sports Association (BJSA) organised the Endurance/Closed Circuit Jet Ski Race in conjunction with the 75th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the Serasa Water Sports Complex recently.
The event provided a controlled environment to ensure the safety of riders and served as an opportunity to train water marshals on actual emergency response incidents.
It was also held to create public awareness on water safety and the importance to wear protective equipment in the water or on a boat.
Tan Kah Boon won the 300 Supercharged category with Christopher Keasberry winning the 200 Normal Aspirated Category and Gabriel Cheong clinching top spot in the 130 Normal Aspirated Category.
Meanwhile, in the endurance (mix class), Haji Idzam bin Haji Mashud emerged victorious in the 300 Supercharged category while Abdul Aziz Hanafi bin Ismail placed first in the 200 Normal Aspirated category.
In the 130 Normal Aspirated category, Haji Isa bin Haji Md Salleh secured top spot.
The event hoped to attract new young riders to be selected to represent Brunei Darussalam in future international races.
It was supported by the Youth and Sports Department, Fire and Rescue Department (Diving Unit and Muara Fire Station), Marine Police, Emergency Medical Ambulance Services, BJSA Water Marshal Team and Poni Divers.
