Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) has revoked the halal certificate issued to Hanimat Restaurant and Catering Services (Jerudong Park branch) located at Jerudong Park Food Court effective March 1, said the Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday.

The withdrawal of the halal certificate was made following the discovery that the restaurant violated the certification requirements such as using dubious meat in the premises.

The case was prosecuted under Section 37 of the Halal Certificate and Halal Label Order 2005, which if convicted, carries a jail term not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding BND8,000 or both.
