A foreign workers’ quarters in Kampong Jerudong was completely destroyed by a fire on Saturday.
No fatalities were reported.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), 11 firefighters from the Jerudong Fire Station and four firefighters from the Rimba Fire Station led by ASO Saini bin Gapor responded to the emergency call and found the fire had engulfed the quarters.
Two vehicles were also destroyed. The cause of the fire and estimated losses are under investigation.
The FRD reminded the public to ensure that homes are equipped with fire extinguishers, fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.
Any installation of wiring and electrical equipment should be conducted by qualified technicians and unused electrical appliances must be switched off before leaving the house.
Gas regulators should be unplugged or covered when not in use, the FRD added.
