Japanese festival to be held virtually

The Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam will hold the ‘Japanese Language and Culture Festival 2021’ from tomorrow until Sunday on the embassy’s official Facebook and Instagram.

The annual Japanese Language and Culture Festival attracts many visitors and this year, in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic, the decision was made to hold the festival online. This will allow for virtual visitors to experience the festival safely at any time.

The festival will be presented in three parts. On the first day, the festival will begin with a message from the ambassador. This will be followed by dance performances from young Bruneians as well as Japanese martial arts practitioners introducing traditional and contemporary Japanese culture.

On the second day, Japanese cultural traditions, such as origami, tea ceremony, kimono, and wagashi (Japanese sweets) will be shown. On the last day, interviews with students talking about their school life in Japan will be available.

Through the event, visitors can experience Japanese culture and language, as well as understand the bond between Japan and Brunei Darussalam.

The event is held in cooperation with Brunei Association of Japan Alumni, Brunei Japan Friendship Association (BJFA) Universiti Brunei Darussalam Chapter and BJFA Universiti Teknologi Brunei Chapter, Sports School Brunei, and Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur Office.
