THE Intermediate Court yesterday handed a sentence of two years’ jail with two whippings to an Indonesian man who pleaded guilty to housebreaking at night to commit theft.

A local woman and man have denied having part in the offence and are going for trial.

Judge Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Haji Kelfi heard from Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Mu’izzah binti Haji Sabli that 27-year-old Indra Setiawan had broken into the house at Kampong Sabun, Muara at midnight on December 21, 2018.

He managed to steal a flat-screen television and three gas cylinders.
