ABDUL Hilmi bin Haji Md Soefri, 30, an unemployed local admitted to stealing a mobile phone at Jafariya Shop in Kampong Sengkurong. His action was caught on CCTV video recording which went viral.
Officers of the Sengkurong Police Station of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) produced the suspect before the Magistrate’s Court in Bandar Seri Begawan.
Prosecution was carried out by DPP Syazwani binti Jumat before Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar.
The accused who pleaded guilty under Section 380 (Theft) of the Criminal Penal Code Chapter 22 was jailed at Maraburong Prison starting from June 29.
