Islam prioritises safe and healthy working environment

Azlan Othman

An unsafe working environment is the root of uncontrollable danger and may cause harm as well as affect personal and family lives both financially and socially, imams said in the Friday sermon yesterday.

“Brunei’s Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) is a statutory body entrusted and responsible in enforcing workplace safety and health orders.

“Some steps to safeguard a safe and healthy working environment are to ensure that the work environment is always clean and orderly to avoid injury and uncomfortable atmosphere; installing signboards to inform workers and the public about dangers in certain areas; and performing regular safety and health checks.”

Imams also called on Muslims to supplicate for safety and protection from dangers and disasters by reciting Surah Al-Fatihah, Ayatul Kursi and Surah Quraish.
