ISB brings home the gold

The International School Brunei (ISB) Under-15 (U15) team recently returned home after bagging 152 medals, of which 84 are gold medals, and five trophies at the U15 Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) Games in Thailand.

The ISB contingent is made up of the strongest U15 athletes in the school as well as three teachers. They competed in three days of sporting events hosted at the Pattana Sports Resort, Thailand. The U15 team participated in four sporting events – swimming, athletics, basketball, and football.

This year’s results were excellent as ISB achieved podium finishes in athletics, swimming, boys’ football, girls’ football and girls’ basketball.

As part of the 23-member ISB team’s preparation, the students trained hard for the past two months, developing their individual skills and teamwork.

The U15 team extended gratitude to their coaches for running training sessions and supporting them before and during the Games.

They also thanked GreenCity Concept Sdn Bhd, Auroara Technologies Sdn Bhd and the ISB Fundraising Parents for their support and contribution.

ISB Head of Physical Education Phil Morley praised the team on their wins and commented, “The return to the FOBISIA Games was eagerly anticipated and we’re delighted to send our U15 team to Thailand. Our students showed incredible skill, sportsmanship and resilience throughout the three-day event and the results were a true testament to their hard work and effort.”

The FOBISIA Games is an annual three-day sporting competition involving international schools in Asia. It provides an opportunity for students to compete on the international stage against other athletes from Southeast Asia’s international schools.
