Investors advised to ‘play it safe’ in 2023

Standard Chartered Securities, a subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank, hosted its first market outlook seminar for the year in collaboration with Franklin Templeton and Allianz Global Investors for its clients on Thursday.

The event was held at Serambi Suluh Hall, Tarindak D’Seni, Bandar Seri Begawan which was attended by over 200 guests.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Standard Chartered Securities Brenda Low said, “This year, we believe sequencing your investment will be very important.

“What to buy first and what to sell later will need careful consideration to execute well.”

The CEO added, “While we see opportunities in certain asset classes, we also expect a recession in Europe and the United States, therefore, we need to be cautious.

“Against this backdrop, we recommend investors build a SAFE foundation, hence our investment theme ‘Playing it SAFE’. 2023 is a year of navigation but we think 2023 will be a better experience for investors compared to 2022.”
