International experts share insights at art forum

Huifong Art Gallery’s (HAG) International Art Forum saw speakers from 10 countries discussing art related topics, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Held at the Baiduri Community Space yesterday, in conjunction with Brunei December Festival 2020, the forum themed ‘How the art world adapts to the new normal and what art would see as new opportunities’ touched on the new normal, overcoming challenges, and foreseeing and capitalising on new opportunities arising as a result of the pandemic.

The speakers included local artist and art entrepreneur Hui Fong, Bahrain’s artist and curator Zakeya Zada, Chinese art entrepreneur Xiuzhong Zhang, Dubai’s art activist and entrepreneur Zaahirah Zabeen Muthy, Indonesian artist Zico Albaquni, Italian art consultant Francesco Balsamo, Malaysian art educator Iron Loi, Malta’s art consultant Valerio Ballota, Singapore’s artist and art competition judge Daryl Go and Thai art gallerist Charusan Chanthop.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin officiated.

Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan expressed his gratitude to Hui Fong for organising the forum and hoped the participants will reap significant benefits from the discussions and experiences shared during the forum.

Hui Fong said, “We are excited to have speakers from 10 countries joining this forum to share their personal experiences and thoughts on the topics. They are from different fields and possess a diverse artistic and culture background which will provide more into our discussions.”

She expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Baiduri Bank and the minister for gracing the event.

Baiduri Bank sponsored the forum to empower, nurture and aspire the local art community in achieving new heights locally and internationally through corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments.

Hui Fong also presented tokens of appreciation to the Tourism Development Department, Baiduri Bank and the minister.
