Insight on smartly navigating through uncertainties

Over 65 entrepreneurs and senior officials recently attended the 8th edition of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei (YEAB) Insight, themed ‘Navigating Smartly Through Uncertainties’.

The event saw a presentation on ‘Brunei Economic Outlook’ by Acting Director of the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) Hairol Nizam bin Haji Abdul Hamid.

There was also an open space session with Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Brunei Economic Development Board and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) Daniel Leong and Chair of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Brunei and Executive Director of LVK Group of Companies Nik Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii.

Director of ASEAN and Corporate Affairs at the UK-ASEAN Business Council Allen Lai facilitated the open space session, which saw inputs by entrepreneurs from various sectors.

Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid delivered a closing keynote address at the end of the session.

Ambassador of Timor Leste to Brunei Darussalam Abel Guterres was a special guest.

YEAB President Nurliyana Fatin binti Arifin said, “Given the complexity of the disruptions brought by the pandemic, overcoming it requires a whole-of-nation approach to build a recovery that is both agile and resilient, particularly as many more challenges are impacting recovery – including re-opening of the borders, competition in a limited market, global economic slowdown, geopolitical tensions, climate change, increasing debt burden and inflation among others. We hope to work together with government agencies to build a robust and resilient ecosystem where our businesses and economy can thrive.”

YEAB Insight aims to provide entrepreneurs with the platform to gain insight on the current development of the economy and business opportunities amid challenging times, simultaneously opening up opportunities to network with a diverse group of entrepreneurs from various stages of business and industries.
