Innovative approaches will be explored: Minister

MINISTER of Energy, Manpower and Industry Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein said his ministry will continue to explore innovative approaches in containing challenges with respect to the country’s economy, industry, unemployment and people’s welfare.

Expressing his motion of thanks to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah at the opening of the 15th Legislative Council meeting on Thursday, the minister said in dealing with the nation’s agenda on economy, industry and unemployment and people’s welfare, it needs strong commitment and dedication from all parties including at the grassroots level.

The ministry is committed to fulfil the noble intention of the caring monarch.

The advancement of info-technology requires us to be more alert and act swiftly in tackling current issues, he said.

“Hence, cooperation from all parties is paramount in helping us to act as a team to face challenges involving the country’s economy, generating employment for locals and in looking after the welfare of the people,” the minister said.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mat Suny added, “We must also be aware of global developments in technology so that the nation is not left behind but also not be complacent of negative aspects arising from such technology.”

The minister urged Legislative Council members to identify strategies, means and future direction to face the challenges in economy and industry.
