THE Intermediate Court yesterday handed a 16-month prison sentence to an Indonesian citizen who committed criminal breach of trust against his employer.

DPP Yvonne Lim informed Judge Radin Safiee bin Radin Mas Basiuni that Risqi Saputra, 22, had worked as a delivery employee under TGT Sdn Bhd.

The prosecution’s facts of the case further stated that the defendant had pocketed BND920.41 from the company between November 2017 and October 2018.

The defendant’s duties consisted of conveying frozen food products and collecting cash upon delivery from TGT’s customers.

He was also tasked with accompanying the truck driver during the delivery rounds.

The money that he received from customers would then be handed over to the company’s financial section, together with the cash bills, to be tallied by the finance focal person.

On October 29, 2018, the defendant handed over BND147.40, along with a cash bill written in the amount of BND247.40.

The total sum was short of BND100 in cash, which prompted the company to lodge a police report.

Police investigations showed that the defendant had misappropriated money twice before, but these were not reported, as the company had wanted to give him another chance.

To date, a total of BND480 has already been paid back to the company.

The defendant admitted to committing criminal breach of trust on all three occasions while employed with TGT Sdn Bhd.
