Indonesian jailed two months for gambling

AN INDONESIAN man was sentenced to two months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to gambling at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Muflihun Suryonegoro, 46, was arrested by the Gambling Suppression and Anti-Vice Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) after being caught playing a game of Katam-Katam at 11.33pm on April 7 at an open area surrounded by bushes outside a building at the Kiulap commercial area.

Police seized money and items used in the game.

Records showed that the defendant committed the same offence in 2015 and in 2019.

DPP Dr Mohd Hussin Ali bin Idris represented the Public Prosecutor in the case presided over by Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid.
